L.E. Smith Black Glass Center Bowl with Candlesticks Handpainted Review
Here is a beautiful Black Glass Console Center Bowl with matching candlesticks. The bowl measures about 9-1/2" square by about 6-1/2" high. The candlesticks measure about 3-1/2" high by 4-1/4 wide. The maker is believed to be L.E. Smith or Westmoreland around 1960 but the artist or decorator is unknown. The bowl's underside has what appears to be a hobnail design. The hollow stem has six rows of what appears to be recessed buttons. Starting at the top of the stem they are the smallest and each row continues to grow larger until the reach the base in which case they are about the size of a nickel. The matching candlesticks have a nice swirled pattern in the bottom of the candlesticks. They are not flat and unfinished as most candlesticks. Now to top the whole thing off they are beautifully hand painted with a gorgeous leaf design and 22kt gold highlighting. The set is in very good condition with no visible sign of damage. It is even more beautiful than the images. If you are looking for a gift for that someone special then look no further. Or I'm sure they will make a nice addition to one's own collection.
